On July 22, 2023, the first flight conducted by Oya Airlines travelled from Tripoli Mitigia Airport to Dubai International Airport, successfully ending a 9-year hiatus of flight restrictions between the countries. In addition to Dubai, more cities along the Mediterranean coast announced flights connecting them and the Libyan capital, Tripoli, also after 9–10-year hiatuses. This gleeful news signifies an optimistic bloom towards a brighter economy for Libya.
